SQCHA, Boonah Championship Show Recap

Cutting Horse Link played tourist last Saturday.  We left the gooseneck at home and went for a day trip to Boonah for the SQCHA Area 5 Championship Show and Annual State of Origin between NRCHC and SQCHC.

Boonah is in the South West between Brisbane and Warrick.  It is the main town in the area and is known as the Fassifern district – a hlighly producting Agriculture area that was first explored in 1827 / 1828.

The South Queensland Cutting Horse Club is a progressive committee based cutting club holding shows throughout South East Queensland.  The shows are held at local showgrounds and are used as a fundraiser for local charities.  The community spirit was evident on Saturday.  The canteen ladies were flat out, the cattle was supplied locally and the backyard boys were run off there feet sorting cattle to keep the show on time.

For Cutters, the SQCHA has a popular and successful format.  It is a money added show  with one show held over 2 days.  This format attracts good numbers and this year was no exception with the added bonus of the annual State of Origin (GO THE BLUES)

The Championship Show was sponsored by Ipswich Bathroom Designs and Bremmer Stockfeeds, who also supplied the jackets to the winning State of Origin team.  You can see all the scores at Just Cuttin

CHL recommends adding this event to your calendar as it was an enjoyable day of cutting (and here’s hoping I have a horse to ride next time)
